- "System Recovery"
ChromeOS 131 is now available for Chromebooks with several useful improvements. Notably, a new "Safety Reset" feature has been introduced. This feature is a lighter version of a factory reset. There is no approved ad in the first paragraph area. There is no approved ad in the middle introduction area. The Safety Reset feature allows users to restore their ChromeOS device to a previous good state without completing a factory reset (also known as a power wash). Safety Reset clears settings, shortcuts, extensions, cookies, and temporary site data, but bookmarks, browsing history, and saved passwords are retained. This is similar to other safety features like system recovery, which returns the PC to a specific save point. The difference is that system recovery returns the PC to a specific save point. Safety Reset cleans the browser and leaves a few things. Instead of forgetting everything up to a specific point, it targets a biased area where problems occur during browsing. It can save lives for people whose problems persist even after deleting browser cookies. A new flash notification has been introduced. This helps users understand the notification more easily. The Chrome team mentioned that this screen will help users with hearing impairments or those using screen magnification tools. However, the notification was too eye-catching and caused issues, even though there were no visual or hearing problems. The core issue is that the notification feels like a small push and can be easily overlooked. Users can find this setting in the accessibility menu of the audio and subtitle menu.
