Since early 2021, Apple has consistently released new Black Unity Bands for the Apple Watch. Marking its fifth year in 2025, the tradition offers a variety of choices. Among the five bands, Apple introduced two Sport Bands, two Sport Loops, and one Woven Solo Loop. All these bands are still available for purchase on the Apple Store today.

2021: Sport Band

Every February, ahead of Black History Month, Apple releases a limited-edition Black Unity Watch Band. It began with the 2021 Black Unity Sport Band, priced at $49. Here's Apple's description of the band:

Co-designed by Apple’s Black creative team and allies, the Black Unity Sport Band is inspired by the colors of the Pan-African flag and pays homage to rich traditions and weaving craftsmanship. Three individual colored fluoroelastomers are hand-assembled and molded together using compression molding. Paired with the dynamic Unity watch face, which displays ever-changing irregular shapes as you move your Apple Watch, these colors blend seamlessly in a unique tapestry-like form. The innovative pin-and-tuck closure features laser-etched “Truth. Power. Unity.”

2022: Woven Solo Loop

In 2022, Apple introduced the Black Unity Woven Solo Loop series, priced at $99. Here's what the company said about this year's version:

Co-designed by Apple’s Black creative team and allies, the Black Unity Woven Solo Loop celebrates Black history and culture, drawing inspiration from Afrofuturism – a philosophy that explores the experiences of the African diaspora through narratives of science, technology, and empowerment. It honors generations of Black people, both seen and unseen, and symbolizes the necessity of building a more equitable world.

2023: Sport Loop

Then, in 2023, we saw the first Sport Loop band. Priced at $49, Apple describes it as:

Inspired by the creative process of mosaic art, the new Black Unity Watch Band and matching watch face symbolize the vibrancy and power of unity within the Black community. Co-designed by Apple’s Black creatives and allies, this band honors Black history and is dedicated to everyone working towards ending systemic racism and building a more equitable world.

This adjustable Sport Loop features the colors of the Pan-African flag, is soft and lightweight, and the word “Unity” is woven in layers, creating a 3D texture.

2024: Unity Bloom Sport Band

Apple decided to bring back the Sport Band design in 2024, with a new look called "Unity Bloom," priced at $49. Apple describes the 2024 design as follows:

The Unity Bloom Apple Watch band and watch face are inspired by the growth and resilience cultivated through generations of workers who come together to confront injustice and dismantle systemic barriers. Each petal shape has a handcrafted appearance, as if cut from paper. Together, they serve as symbols of truth, power, and unity, representing a commitment to creating a more equitable world where everyone can blossom.

2025: Unity Rhythm Sport Loop

Last but not least, 2025 brought the second Sport Loop design in Apple's five-year plan. Priced at $49, here's Apple's description of this year's design:

The Unity Rhythm Sport Loop celebrates the power of rhythm and unity. The band features a dynamic color gradient inspired by sound waves, representing the energy and vibrancy of music and community. It's a reminder that we are all connected through our shared experiences and passions.
