The Parrot Security Team today released Parrotos 6.3, a new ISO snapshot of the Debian-based, security-focused GNU/Linux distribution for penetration testing and ethical hacking, which includes new tools, updated tools, and other improvements.

ParrotOS 6.3 is released over three months since ParrotOS 6.2. This version uses Linux kernel 6.11 (for PC versions) and Linux kernel 6.6 LTS (for Raspberry Pi versions). Both kernels are updated to the latest versions, providing users with the best hardware support.

ParrotOS 6.3 has updated parrot-core and base-files, fixed an error in the $PATH environment variable, resolved an issue where the Firefox launcher was not displaying correctly, and fixed a bug where .ova format virtual images could not run properly in VirtualBox.

The ParrotOS 6.3 version updates multiple hacking tools, including airgeddon 11.40, NetExec 1.3.0, Maltego 4.8.1, Metasploit 6.4.43, sqlmap 1.8.12, ZAP 2.15.0, sherlock 0.15.0, Seclists 2024.4, enum4linux 1.3.4, BloodHound 1.7.2, theHarvester 4.6.0, Burp Suite 2024.10.1.1, and Wireshark 4.0.17.

It also includes two new tools: Caido 0.44.1, a tool that helps security professionals and enthusiasts efficiently and conveniently audit web applications, and SecLists-lite 2024.4, a collection of multi-type lists for security assessments (e.g., usernames, passwords, URLs, sensitive data patterns, fuzz testing payloads, Web shells, etc.).
